2026 PRESS RELEASE

Launching… Nouveau Retro Music with Multi-Award-Winning Producer.

[Central Coast, Australia] – Age is just a number, and Andrew Starr Witness is proving it with his bold leap into today’s music industry, launching  what he describes as nouveau retro songs, with the help of two-time ARIA and Emmy Award-winning producer Sean Carey. Starr and his studio band, are on a mission to bring back radio-friendly songs with a fresh yet timeless approach, blending the classic influences of The Beatles, Elton John, early Bee Gees, Jackson Browne, Sting, James Taylor, and Crowded House.

With an uncompromising dedication to organic instrumentation, Starr Witness is delivering music with drums, bass, electric and acoustic guitars, keyboards, piano, organ, trumpet, trombone and sax and signature lead vocals with rich harmonies and sensational female vocalists. Their sound is earning early praise from test audiences, who describe it as “authentic, refreshing, and undeniably catchy”.

A Chance Meeting That

Changed Everything

Sean Carey, a former member of the acclaimed Australian rock band Thirsty Merc, was immediately struck by Starr’s songwriting. Recalling their first encounter, Carey shares:

“When he came in for our first meeting, we chatted for a bit and then I asked him to grab the guitar and play me something”. “He hesitated and said”; “I don’t know what to play”. I said… “anything”. With that, he launched into (of all songs) ‘For No One’ by The Beatles. I jack-knifed from the console yelling, ‘What the f***!’ in total astonishment. After that, he played 10 or more original songs, all of which sounded pretty melodic.”

Recognizing Starr’s songwriting ability, Carey and Starr formalized an arrangement and the two set to work. With the aid of some of Sydney’s hottest session musicians, laying down bass, drums, keyboards, guide vocals, and guitars, they started shaping what promises to be a memorable debut Starr/Carey release.

The Revival of

Timeless Music

Starr Witness’ vision is clear: revitalizing the golden era of songwriting while making it accessible for modern audiences. Starr Witness aims to cut through the digital noise with songs that feel both nostalgic and fresh and that would sound great on the radio - and stay in listeners’ hearts.

With the first single on the verge of release, Starr’s perseverance to find a like-minded producer is paying dividends.

A Late Bloomer with

a Lot to Say

Andrew Starr might be of the same vintage as Neil Finn, but as he jokes about Finn, “Crikey,I’ve got a lot of catching up to do.” However, with Sean Carey in his corner and a catalogue of standout songs ready to go, Starr Witness is poised to make an interesting impact on the music scene.
